There’s an animated figure in some of the Macy’s windows. He’s about the size of an American girl doll, but creepier. Forget about candy canes; this is winter wonderland as a sinister snow scene.

Officially, strawberries are what is dipped into the big vat of melted chocolate. But if you slipped the women a tip and asked really nicely, would they put something else in there when no one was looking? What would you put in there?

In this kinder and gentler era, they’ve stripped Cupid of his bow and arrow. Now he hands out hearts. What I’ve also noticed this year is that Valentine’s Day seems to be more of an adult holiday than ever. Other than the “Cute Stuff” candy heart, little of this is for kids.
