Scene from a street fair

July 28, 2013

we see you

NYC street fairs are all the same. Same food, same junky jewelry for sale. The same tube socks you didn’t buy last time you went to a street fair! The plungers, that is, used as wall decoration and background. The window decorators are counting that it’s new to many viewers, though. It’s not clear if the mannequins are having a purposeful conversation with their environment.

Green shoes

September 13, 2012

People talking on cell phones in public should always stand near phone booths. Green shoes are optional, but a nice touch.

Warm colors for the warmer weather

June 13, 2012

The experts are telling us that coral is THE color of the season, but I think all the warm colors of the spectrum, from yellow to red, are in at the moment.

Long skirts are back

May 27, 2012

This summer will be remembered for two women’s fashion trends: hot pants and long skirts. Here’s an example of the latter.

Lookalike couple in green pants

April 24, 2012

Before I could even form rude thoughts about couples dressing like twins, these two effervesced down the block. They spread good cheer and momentarily dispelled doubts about this season’s trend for bright colors.
