It’s a theme-y kind of week here at the blog: here’s another picture of a cook in uniform and more parked bicycles, too. Both are outnumbered by office workers, tourists, cars, and buses, so it feels a wee bit unusual to have these two elements together.

Everyone’s trying to get what they can out of the sun by pushing up sleeves and taking off shoes. The guy to the right is my favorite, though. He’s exposed his calves so that they might get some rays and fresh air.

Things to do in the summer heat

Some choose the route of denial and sit on a sun-warmed marble bench in the sun. A woman sits in a cool sandwich shop and observes the diner in the courtyard. It was above 95 degrees that day –┬áinside looks just fine to me.

Looks like an ordinary corner

I was trying to see what this man was taking pictures of, but having no luck because he was too tall. I couldn’t see the back of the camera. From where I stood, the corner looked pretty unremarkable, but maybe that was what the photographer was after.
