Coffee and whatnot

August 8, 2013

The Wichcraft kiosks by Bryant Park are a hive of activity, spilling employees like a clown car. This is a segment of a panorama; that’s why it’s narrow. To visit them in person, go to the northwest corner of the park, by the F Train entrances.

Holiday skating, Bryant Park

January 5, 2013

blue xmas tree

On the 11th and 12th days of Christmas, there was skating in Bryant Park. Admission is free, but you have to pay for skate rental and put up with Citibank’s ubiquitous logo and colors on nearly every blank space. (The Christmas tree is blue for a reason.)

Empire State Building (woman pretends it’s cold)

down the line

And I’m pretending the light is good for taking photos. The last few weeks have been rough, more clouds than sun.

Lion King pop-up exhibit

December 16, 2012

popping up

There’s an exhibit about the Lion King show that is set up for a few weeks in a space across from Bryant Park at the corner of 42nd and 6th Avenue. Check out the costumes and the puppet-creatures from this blockbuster… for free!

I wanted to count sheep

September 29, 2012

NY1 said there were sheep in Bryant Park, so I went to have a look; this is what I found. A park employee told me the disappointing news: yes, there were sheep, but only for one day, Thursday. It was an exhibit sponsored by the British government about the benefits of sheep eating grass. Quickly.

3 friends

We would know they were together without the arms being linked. Look at the cuffed jeans, jackets, patterned scarves, and hair. I like the mirror aviator sunglasses – very retro.

Platforms & orange drink

April 28, 2012

A little NY attitude, across from Bryant Park.

Warm on a winter day

March 14, 2012

The Empire State Building makes an appearance. For a large building, it tends to hide behind others in Midtown. At sidewalk level, the sun’s been incredibly bright during the mini heatwave this week.

Outside the crosswalk

November 26, 2011

Mister, for your health and well-being, may we recommend that you cross the street at the corner, with the light, at the crosswalk? Now you’re in the bike lane, which has other perils. Look both ways and be alert, everyone.

Taking a picture means take MY picture

November 22, 2011

When I’m wandering around the city I like to take pictures of people taking pictures, especially when the subject is mundane. My guess is that this girl snapped a photo of the intersection of Sixth Avenue, with a little bit of Bryant Park at the top.
