Louis Armstrong’s living room – I was there

Louis Armstrong, perhaps the most important jazz musician, could have lived anywhere in 1943. He was rich, famous, and had it all, yet he and his wife, Lucille, bought a modest house in Corona, Queens. Armstrong, who had grown up poor in New Orleans, thought he was in heaven; he loved the house and neighborhood. Now a National Historic Landmark, the Louis Armstrong House Museum is open to visitors, and an expansion of the museum is planned for across the street. If you like jazz and Americana, you’ve got to visit.
