We’ve been having a taste of summer the last couple of days. Temperatures have been in the mid-80′s and the humidity has been high. Thanks, but we’ll take more spring, please.

I’m used to not thinking about Times Square. Anyone who has been in NYC for a while remembers when the area was not known for Lion Kings, family entertainment, and M&M’s by the pound.

It’s hot and humid, so I’d have to say my love for NY is worth about $2.75, but I did get a seat on the subway this AM, so let’s up that by a quarter to $3.00. Is your love priceless today? Are you in love with the city or feeling so-so about it?

The cops are part of the scenery in Times Square. When they are not chasing criminals and keeping the peace, police officers will gladly pose for a picture.

Times Square: As good a place as any in NYC to have a moment of solitude. It just takes a little practice. With warmer weather, this area will be swarming with people day and night. If you like crowds, or being alone in a crowd, head on over.

Earlier this week was Good Riddance Day. Participants wrote down a bad memory from the past year and then it was put through a paper shredder. Out with the old! I wish it were that simple, but some positive thinking never hurts. Have fun tonight, everyone!

Holiday shopping is upon us – I hear bells ringing everywhere I go, and Santa’s probably not far behind. But I’m getting the feeling people are shopping for themselves at the moment. The spirit of giving may kick in later on, when there’s a chill in the air.

The question comes up: what should you do if you’re in a cab that has a minor accident or fender bender because your driver is a full-on Mr. Magoo-bad driver (& thankfully no one was hurt)? Slip out the back door! Don’t get involved in the yelling, because there will be raised voices, and police cars. Pay the fare if you feel obligated, but don’t tip for this misadventure, and don’t wait around for the rest of the ride because the cabbie probably left the meter running!
