Walking & snapping

Walking down the sidewalk in a shoe-scraping skirt while taking snapshots is about as dangerous as talking and texting, it’s just less common. There’s a drama happening in the background here, between the women and the man by the street.

Sitting on a vowel

Unfortunately for the tourists, the Love sculpture also functions as seating for tired New Yorkers. The photographer can angle the shot to emphasize the letter E and her friend so the regular folk hardly show.

The friend with a camera

We all have that friend with a camera. Even me. He or she likes tourist pictures with a familiar face in them, but they never turn out so well. Even the buildings appear in an unflattering light.

Ask nice

The cops are part of the scenery in Times Square. When they are not chasing criminals and keeping the peace, police officers will gladly pose for a picture.

I’m back at the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree, where young folks are making wholesome memories on a cloudy afternoon.

Floating Christmas balls

Every year they move around the holiday props at Rockefeller Center. This year, the giant Christmas balls are in the middle of a fountain and look nice, very photogenic.

Taking a picture means take MY picture

When I’m wandering around the city I like to take pictures of people taking pictures, especially when the subject is mundane. My guess is that this girl snapped a photo of the intersection of Sixth Avenue, with a little bit of Bryant Park at the top.

They ignored the lion

Tourists had a photo session in front of the public library on Fifth Avenue. The library’s trademark lion sculpture sits nearby while the adults pose the teens in front of construction scaffolding.
