Her hair is rather sixties, and the sneakers-and-socks look harkens back to the eighties. (Too bad she’s not wearing saddle shoes.) In this up-and-down spring weather, it’s hard to know what to wear.

Big blue suitcase

A couple days in the city and this woman is jaded already. Here, New York, have a big yawn. What’s in the suitcase, though? Just some Big Apple souvenirs for everyone who got left behind, I’ll bet.

Lady, get off the phone! Don’t look up, but walk quickly on. If you could see what we could see….

Springtime window shot

Haven’t had any out-the-window pictures in a while. This week the city is crawling with tourists who are extending the Easter week vacation. Some are surprised by the cool weather and have to go right from the tour bus to the gift shop and buy sweatshirts that say New York or I Heart NY. They’ll usually get a NY Yankees baseball hat or two while they are at it.

Retro art in Bergdorf windows

Bergdorf has some nice windows assembled which combine 60′s and 70′s art with thriftstore purchases. The background is wall-to-wall, but the mannequins manage to stand out from the visual busy-ness. Still, I was the only person on the sidewalk who had stopped to admire the artistry.

Tan, gray, beige & maroon

That man just had to put his big arm in the photo. The woman’s thinking of other things, of course. Touching her neck might indicate vulnerability, or a chill. She is covering the purse, too.

Sushi & a peter pan collar

It’s time for that gray corridor known as Sixth Avenue to lighten up now that spring is here. I don’t remember when I last saw a peter pan collar. Maybe it’s a seasonal trend?

The West 34th saunter

34th Street, within a couple blocks of Herald Square, has an unusual number of stories to tell. Lots going on, and lots of characters. Here, the young woman may be at the center of the picture, but the one who holds my attention is the building employee on a smoking break. He’s taking it all in, too.

Conveyor belt sushi

Maybe it’s not the freshest fish, but the format is fun. Watching plates of sushi go past on a conveyor belt is like playing with your food. If you can’t identify what’s going past or want or order something something else, there’s also a menu.

Hands in pockets, everyone

References to spring being in the air are hereby taken back. Winter has returned and hands should be jammed in pockets when they are not carrying shopping bags. I like the guy’s plaid duffel coat, though.
