Correct me if I’m wrong, but don’t these pedestrians have such determination and purpose that their actions appear almost scripted? Maybe we’re witnessing an impromptu theater piece by the Time Warner Center.

This is Cornelia Parker’s “Thirty Pieces of Silver (exhaled)”, silver plated items crushed by an industrial press, seen at the Frieze Art Fair on Randall’s Island over the weekend. The fair was four days of contemporary art shown by 180 dealers in a gigantic tent. The art was uneven, but interesting overall, and the people watching was excellent.

You didn’t expect Hello Kitty to walk, did you? I didn’t know that the cult of the Kitty has drawn in grown men, but I guess it was inevitable.

Sometimes the yellow cabs take over the roadway. A stoplight looks like the start of a road race, and the drivers are all ready to gun their engines the moment the light turns green.
