He needs a guidebook, too

September 4, 2012

He man looks unhappy that he doesn’t have his own guidebook. When you’re doing the twin thing, you want to do it right, and these two have nailed many of the details. I would like to see them eating lunch. Do they order the same food?

Midtown in August

August 8, 2012

In August, the people on the street are a mix of natives getting lunch or coffee and tourists shopping and taking in a sight or two. There’s no measurement of culture consumed to justify expenditures, but maybe there should be: two hours in a museum equals a piece of clothing; three hours on the Circle Line equals a pair of shoes. If rain starts coming down during an outdoor activity…JACKPOT! Spend even more on the shoes!

Hats galore

July 22, 2012

The natives prefer baseball hats, you’ll notice. It’s nice to see people saying to heck with the weather, let’s get on with the agenda.

Seventh Avenue after work

June 26, 2012

2nd floor view, Joe Fresh

June 8, 2012

The second-floor view from this landmark building is nicer than the clothes for sale and more enduring. Open 10 AM to 9 PM most days, 5th Avenue and 43rd Street.

Aero 2 boys @ RAD

April 14, 2012

Warmish weather and no rain meant huge crowds in midtown over Spring Break. School is back in session Monday. Disgruntled office workers will own the sidewalks again.

Ask nice

The cops are part of the scenery in Times Square. When they are not chasing criminals and keeping the peace, police officers will gladly pose for a picture.

Summer couple in October

October 12, 2011

I couldn’t have invented this couple – they are just right for an overly warm day in October, and perfectly in contrast to the office workers crowding the sidewalk.

Hi, tiger

September 6, 2011

A.k.a., the mini grate-walker. The summer is unofficially over so now we’ll get ready for the fall tourists in NYC. They are like the summer tourists but wear more clothing and often have umbrellas handy.

Where ya from?

August 29, 2011

The weekend was brutal, waiting for the bad weather. I am ready for the work week, tourists, lousy office coffee, and midtown in general, and I’m serious.
