The magazine article said Foley Square was the starting point of the car-free Summer Streets program – 6.9 miles of city streets. We were looking for the zip line and couldn’t find it. Turns out the article didn’t mention the times. Cars are prohibited from 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM, so it didn’t do us any good since we got there after 2:00 PM.

Uptown, white stripes, downtown, walk on the pavement. Three street fairs and I am officially burned out. Today’s, on Broadway, was crowded and seemed to have fewer interesting merchants, if that was possible.

Between Fifth and Sixth Avenues, it’s not as crowded as it looks. The styrofoam cooler on the cart on the left was full of fish. It was almost 90 degrees; wasn’t hard to figure that one out.

The latest heatwave is over, but it’s still summer and quite warm. I needed to spend $$ and get some iced coffee, so I went to the strangest Starbuck’s, at the back of the NHL Store on Sixth Avenue. The view out the window, in my opinion, was fabulous. I like the newsstand’s refrigerator of drinks.

NYC Street fairs are very repetitious. It’s mostly the same stuff to eat, buy, and drink repeated for 10-15 blocks. Grilled corn is very popular this year; tube socks used to be.
