One way here… and there

Correct me if I’m wrong, but don’t these pedestrians have such determination and purpose that their actions appear almost scripted? Maybe we’re witnessing an impromptu theater piece by the Time Warner Center.

Greetings from the Empire State

April has been really gray, hasn’t it? Or do I think that every time the sun is behind a cloud? No matter, I have great hopes for the may flowers, and how large and colorful they are going to be.

Dumpster danger

Lady, get off the phone! Don’t look up, but walk quickly on. If you could see what we could see….

Tan, gray, beige & maroon

That man just had to put his big arm in the photo. The woman’s thinking of other things, of course. Touching her neck might indicate vulnerability, or a chill. She is covering the purse, too.

Sushi & a peter pan collar

It’s time for that gray corridor known as Sixth Avenue to lighten up now that spring is here. I don’t remember when I last saw a peter pan collar. Maybe it’s a seasonal trend?

By a 34th Street newsstand

Business as usual on 34th Street: throngs walking toward Penn Station and a newsstand selling lottery tickets and winter magazines with bikini-clad women on the cover.

Walking and thinking

We leave our desks and take our thoughts to the sidewalk. Many people are walking around midtown thinking things through as they go about errands and pick up lunch.

I like this series of photos in part for the background. It’s constant and the nearer car adds some color. The pedestrians come and go on the sidewalk stage.

The hotel porter

Funny thing is, when you’re walking past you can hardly tell there’s a hotel on this block, so what’s this not-so-fancy porter doing on the sidewalk? If you’d prefer, this picture can be about primary colors: the blue sky, red suitcase, and yellow cab.

Blending in

While 1290 Sixth Avenue’s being redone, there’s a painted facade in front. The pedestrian in white pants looks like she stepped out of the image and is happy about it.
